Haiti Mission 2013

Dear Family and Friends,

As most of you are aware, I went with the Franciscan Friars to Haiti in January of 2011 to
rebuild and repair many houses due to the damage from a hurricane and earthquake. In 2012, I
again went to Haiti to build bathrooms. Friar Suppliers has been going to Haiti since 2003. My
first experience was great, and now it is something I look forward to each year. It gives me a
sense of pride to help these people during the holiday time -- a time of giving.

The bathrooms we built last year significantly helped with Haiti's poor sanitation and has
decreased the cases of Cholera by 40 percent. Accordingly, I’ve been asked once again to go to
Haiti and build additional bathrooms. I will be going from January 2-11, 2013. As I indicated
last year, the bathrooms cost about $300 each. They are very simple -- a hole in the ground,
cement block walls and a steel roof.

I will be traveling with Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the renewal, and eight lay people
to get the work done. The doctors and nurses will hold a free medical clinic. On the trip in 2011,
the medical staff was able to serve over 1,000 people. In 2012, they served 1500 people.
I would greatly appreciate any financial assistance you can provide. We need to purchase
the medicine for the clinic, building supplies for the bathrooms and food for the families. Most of
us in America have never experienced what the Haitians deal with on a daily basis -- to go
hungry, lack medical care and not have proper sanitation.

All donations are tax deductible. Checks should be made payable to “Friar Suppliers” and
mailed back to me at 275 Swamp Road, Fairfax, VT 05454. You will receive a tax form in early
February. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 849-6232 or e-mail me at
greghelen@myfairpoint.net. Thank you for your support during this giving season.

Yours truly,

Greg Hartmann
